About Continuum

Each year Murdoch University hosts their annual Creative Media Showcase that is planned, developed and designed by their Creative Media students. The exhibition purpose is to creatively demonstrate student work from: Creative Writing, Games Art & Design, Graphic design, Journalism, Photography, Theatre & Drama, Screen Production, Sound and Strategic Communications. Each year’s theme is different and unique just like our students and this year the theme is Continuum.

Continuum represents the notion of change over time. Murdoch students begin their journey curious about their future and the person they could be. The opportunities they take during their studies lead them to exciting possibilities, and they leave as a changed person. The Creative Media Showcase celebrates the change that can occur when we open our minds to thinking creatively.

Our Production

This year’s theme is ‘Continuum’ and represents the idea of change over time. It is also about how Murdoch started from humble beginnings and continues to evolve to this day 50 years later. This marks the 50th Anniversary of Murdoch University, a milestone that needs to be celebrated as we aim to craft this unique experience for you – the viewer.

Spatial and Wayfinding Team

Hi! We’re the Spatial/ Wayfinding team! Our responsibility is to design a functional and aesthetic event space to create the physical manifestation of Continuum’s design. Spatial design comprises of any design with respect to it’s physical space – including but not limited to aesthetic design, layout, and arrangement of exhibits. In addition to this, the spatial design is closely intertwined with wayfinding design – the design and curation of elements throughout the space to aid in navigation and finding your way around the event. The Spatial/ Wayfinding team has an important job in designing the space as a key touchpoint for guests attending Continuum, and we aim to create a beautiful yet functional space to create a lasting impact and memorable experience for all event-goers!

Publication Team

Hey we’re the publication team! Our role in Continuum is to create the book – a compilation of the world displayed at the show that shines a light on Murdoch’s talented students. Throughout the semester, our team has explored various print techniques and approaches to create an economical book that incorporates maximum creativity and the theme of Continuum. We aim to create a publication that serves as a lasting memory of the show, putting to print student’s hard and impressive work. This is not only a touchpoint that attendees can take home and to reach an audience that can bring exciting opportunities for Creative Media and Communication students. Our publication will capture Continuum in print form, allowing the showcase to continue to make an impact even when it comes to a close.
