Games Art and Design merges concept art, illustration, 3D sculpting, animation and production techniques. Focused on skill refinement and portfolio development, our program propels students toward impactful careers in the gaming industry. Games Art and Design graduates have gone on to work all over the world and have worked on films like Furious 7, Fantastic Four, The Hobbit and more.
Our Graphic Design course is a dynamic blend of innovative design strategies and hands-on skills for print, digital, and service contexts. The curriculum covers print, branding, publication design, web and mobile design and human-centred design such as user experience and service design. Exceptionally, our students have interned with global giants like Nike and Red Bull, and engage in international study tours, crafting impactful outcomes for clients like the Salvation Army in Singapore. For those seeking advanced expertise, a fourth-year option exists the Graduate Diploma in Design Thinking and Service Innovation. In our Journalism course, students develop the skills they need to thrive in the digital era of news. They will learn everything they need to know to work within a professional news organisation, gathering information and producing editorial content in text, audio and video and multimedia formats. Students will learn the skills you need to get a job in today’s evolving media landscape, from practical reporting and writing, through to using social media and video journalism, and learning how to manage the back end of a website.
Our photography students embark on a journey, mastering industry-standard skills, and creative depth. Beginning with photography fundamentals, they explore diverse styles, honing their techniques in both studio and on-location settings. Through hands-on experiences, students delve into lighting nuances, digital workflows, and editing techniques. Advanced students engage in real-world projects and professional industry placements, gaining invaluable practical exposure. Our graduates shine in diverse fields: fashion, art, sports, medicine, product photography, architecture, events, and corporate sectors. At Murdoch, our screen production students learn about script-writing, producing, directing, cinematography, production design, digital video editing, sound recording and sound design. Students gain hands-on experience from international award-winning experienced film-makers and use a wide range of professional production equipment and industry-standard facilities. These include editing suites, industry cameras, TV studio, and a state-of-the-art sound stage. Screen production students have the opportunity to work with real organisations on real projects, and complete internships through our work-integrated learning program. In this way, students learn all the roles involved in creating screen productions of many kinds including drama, documentary, factual production, and or experimental pieces.
