At Murdoch…
Theatre and Drama at Murdoch introduces students to a range of dynamic performative and dramatic texts. Students develop the critical language to explore how dramatic texts and performances make their mark in a ramge of different historical, social and cultural contexts. With numerous opportunities to engage – both on and off stage – in a diverse range of performance modes and styles, students also develop the professionalism and the confidence to create, perform, and produce work for public performance.

Murdoch University Creative Academy presents Salt Waves Fresh, Gretchen Minton’s witty eco-adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Reimagined for contemporary Australia, this staged reading, a live performance with script in hand, features Murdoch actors and alumni bringing Shakespeare’s comedy into dialogue with urgent climate realities. In this version, Feste appears as a Black Cockatoo, symbol of WA’s endangered species and the ecological crises shaping our future, from mass coral bleaching to habitat loss. Both playful and thought-provoking, Salt Waves Fresh celebrates Murdoch’s sustainability pillar while showcasing the creativity of our students and alumni. Audience members are warmly invited to drop in and experience this fresh reimagining of a Shakespearean classic.
